From 17 to 19 April 2026, the Offshore Safety & Survival Course (WS OSR 6.01) with BLSD will take place in Palermo, at the facilities and nautical base of the Italian Naval League – Palermo Section.
The course includes both theoretical and practical training, with dedicated exercises focused on offshore safety, including:
Use of liferafts
BLSD (Basic Life Support and Defibrillation) simulations 🫀
Emergency procedures and sea survival techniques 🌊
At the end of the course, participants will receive:
The World Sailing OSR 6.01 certification, valid worldwide for participation in Category 1 and 2 offshore races, with a validity of 5 years
The BLSD certification, valid for 2 years

We are pleased to invite you to the charity sailing regatta “Rotaract Cup”, organized by Rotaract District 2071 Tuscany and the Yacht Club Cala de’ Medici, with the support of Marina Cala de’ Medici, RAC Cecina, RAC Livorno, RC Livorno, RC Livorno Mascagni, and the Rotary Fellowship of Sea Lovers.
The entire registration fee will be donated to the service project “Passo Fidato”, carried out together with the National Guide Dog School for the Blind of Scandicci, to help fund the purchase of Golden Retriever puppies that will be trained as guide dogs.

PALERMO, October 29, 2025 – On Wednesday, November 29, Mondello will become the beating heart of Italian sailing for the opening ceremony of the Italian Olympic Classes Championship (CICO) Edison Next 2025, often called the “mini-Olympics” of Italian sailing. Over 400 athletes from 20 nations will compete in the waters off Palermo, bringing together world champions, Olympic medalists, and many of the Italian sailors fresh from the Paris (Marseille) 2024 Olympic Games, including gold medalist Marta Maggetti.
Organized by the Consorzio Circoli Velici Riuniti Palermo with the support of the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV), the event is not only a major sporting competition but also a meeting point between the world of sailing, local institutions, and associations committed to promoting the sea as a shared resource.
The Contribution of Rotary and the International Fellowship of Sea Lovers
Among the key participants at the opening ceremony are the Rotary and the International Fellowship of Sea Lovers, both present to highlight their shared values of friendship, service, and environmental stewardship. The participation of Rotary clubs and the international fellowship underscores their commitment to sustainability, marine education, and the promotion of ocean culture among younger generations.
During the ceremony, Rotary representatives will deliver a message of greeting and support to the organizers and athletes, emphasizing how the sport of sailing — through its harmony between humans and nature — perfectly embodies the spirit of cooperation and respect that Rotary promotes worldwide.
The International Fellowship of Sea Lovers, which brings together Rotarians passionate about the sea and sailing, has also collaborated on side initiatives connected to the event, aimed at raising public awareness about marine conservation and the protection of coastal ecosystems.
An Event for the City and for the Sea
Roberto Lagalla, the Mayor of Palermo, will deliver the city’s official welcome, highlighting how the CICO Edison Next serves as an international showcase for Palermo and Sicily, combining sport, tourism, and local development.
The races will unfold along the picturesque coastline stretching from Mondello to Sferracavallo, Addaura, and Isola delle Femmine, offering spectators onshore the chance to enjoy breathtaking duels among some of the best sailors in the world.
Palermo, October 4, 2025 – The calm waters of Palermo’s harbor became the stage for an inspiring initiative that blended passion for the sea with a spirit of service and collaboration. The Rotary Fellowship Sea Lovers, in partnership with the Rotaract Club of Palermo, joined forces with the Lega Navale di Palermo to promote awareness around marine conservation and the importance of teamwork through sailing.
The event, aptly titled “Sailing in the Morning,” brought together young Rotaractors, sea enthusiasts, and local volunteers for a day dedicated to both learning and action. Participants took part in sailing activities designed to highlight how respect for the sea goes hand in hand with respect for one another—a message that resonated throughout the day.
“Through sailing, we not only rediscover the beauty of our coasts but also the values of cooperation, trust, and shared responsibility,” said a representative of the Rotary Fellowship Sea Lovers. “These are the same principles that guide us as Rotarians and as citizens of the world.”
The Lega Navale di Palermo provided its expertise and facilities, ensuring that all participants experienced the sea in a safe and educational way. In addition to the sailing sessions, the initiative included short talks on environmental sustainability, marine protection, and the role of youth organizations in fostering ecological awareness.
As the sails caught the morning wind, the event became a symbol of unity—between generations, institutions, and the community—demonstrating how teamwork and love for the sea can chart a course toward a more sustainable future.
